The Kinetix Group’s Warren Smedley Joins Thought Leaders in Telehealth Awareness Week Panel

TKG Managed Markets Advisory Panel Summary Report

NEW YORK, October 11, 2022 — Warren Smedley, DSc (can), MSHA, MSHQS, vice president at The Kinetix Group (TKG), joined thought leaders in a panel hosted by the American Telemedicine Association (ATA).

The session, “Leveraging IoT and Telehealth in DCTs for Recruitment and Retention of Diverse Participants,” discussed strategies that use telehealth and digital tools to attract more diverse participants for clinical trials. The ATA presented the session as part of a series of discussions for Telehealth Awareness Week.

“The last two and a half years have really highlighted the strengths and weaknesses of our care delivery system and shown the need to accelerate our efforts towards greater diversity in clinical trial enrollment,” said Smedley. “Some of the gaps in care for the more vulnerable patient populations we serve were less visible before the pandemic, and now, we can see the impact of those gaps more clearly. Clinical trial enrollment is one area where we can do better. This panel discussion reinforced the need to continue our efforts in delivering greater health equity in clinical trial enrollment.”

Other experts included:

  • Tufia C. Haddad, MD, chair of practice innovation and platform at Mayo Clinic
  • Gilles Lunzenfichter, co-founder and chief executive officer at Medisanté Group AG
  • Reginald Swift, Ph.D., founder and chief executive officer at Rubix LS
  • Vera Rulon, founder and president of Tir Health Advisors LLC (moderator)

Panelists discussed the benefits and challenges of Internet of Things (IoT) devices used to enhance diversity in recruitment efforts. They also shared their experiences with care delivery and perspectives on needed innovations for Decentralized Clinical Trials (DCTs).
